Meet Steven Cheung

With over 600 hours of teaching experience at various online tutoring agencies, I'm passionate about making mathematics to go from frustration and anxiety to clarity and confidence. I value curiosity and create a space where students feel encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. Also fun fact, I used to be to be terrible at maths but I stuck with it and started to enjoy it more and more. Ask for my degree and/or DBS Enhanced Certificate.

My approach is rooted in a simple belief: every student can excel at math when it's taught in a way that makes sense to them. There are no "math people" and "non-math people". Everyone just has different learning paths.

How do I know if my child needs a tutor?

Common signs include declining grades, avoidance of math homework, expressions of frustration or anxiety about math, spending excessive time on assignments without completion, or a teacher expressing concern. The free diagnostic assessment can also help clarify whether tutoring would be beneficial.

What happens in the free consultation?

The 25-minute consultation includes a brief diagnostic assessment to identify current skill level and gaps, a discussion of goals and timeline, an overview of how sessions are structured, and a recommended plan. It's a no-pressure conversation; we want you to feel confident before committing.

Do sessions happen online or in person?

We only offer online sessions at the moment. Online sessions use a shared digital whiteboard (similar to a shared iPad) along with video call, which many students actually prefer. We make sure our sessions have the highest quality. Plus, online is more comfortable due to the fact that you can take the session at home.

How long until I see improvement?

Most students show noticeable improvement in confidence within 2–3 sessions. Grade improvements typically appear within our 8-12 weeks of consistent tutoring, depending on the starting point and the gap being addressed. We track progress formally so you'll see the data, not just feel the difference.

What if my child doesn't click with the tutor?

The rapport between student and tutor is critical. If after the first two sessions you or your child feel that it's not a good fit, we'll discuss what's not working and either adjust our approach or, if needed, refer you to a trusted colleague. Your success comes first - we never pressure families to continue if it's not working.

What's the rescheduling and cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule. Rescheduling with less notice, has a risk of not being able to reschedule. We understand emergencies happen - we handle those on a case-by-case basis with understanding.

Since we only offer packaged services, cancellation of individual hours is not permitted. We want you to obtain all your packaged hours!
